09:30  Welcome

09:40   Employee Benefits:              “The Art of Misdirection”

British businesses are currently rather distracted by the ongoing saga of Brexit, and as a result may have overlooked some of the ongoing issues within their workforce and benefits offering.  Steve will remind the audience of some important issues including productivity & engagement, the ageing workforce, the importance of absence management, pensions, and supporting employees at a time of great change.

Speaker:  Steve Herbert, Head of Benefits Strategy, Howden Employee Benefits

10:10  Absence Management:         “Getting the most out of Occupational Health”

The use of Occupational Health to assist in the management of long-term sickness absence is often viewed rather negatively by UK employers. Yet this important offering could – and should – be a central component of employer policy and procedures.  Dr Charlie Vivian will explore this topic in this informed and entertaining presentation.

Speaker:  Dr Charlie Vivian, Consultant Occupational Physician, Icarus Health Solutions Ltd

10:40  Delegate Voting

10:50   Break/ Refreshments/ Networking

11:20  Employment Law:                 “Pulling the rabbit out of the hat!”

The Supreme Court’s decision to abolish employment tribunal fees may have led employers to assume that such fees had disappeared for good, but Matt wonders if they might yet magically reappear?  He will also take a look at what other employment related legislation the Government has up its sleeve including the latest on the gig economy reforms, the imminent changes to IR35 in the private sector, ethnicity pay gap reporting, and a review of cases having a practical effect on employers.

Speaker:  Matt Jenkin, Employment Partner, Moorcrofts LLP

11:50  Magic:                                     “The Magic of Teamwork”

We are delighted that award-winning magician - and member of The Magic Circle - Nick Einhorn has agreed to round-off our event.  Nick will look at the importance of teamwork (with a magical twist of course!).  Not to be missed.

Speaker:  Nick Einhorn, Award-winning Magician & member of The Magic Circle
